Shadow Oaks

I am the author of an unpublished YA series named Shadow Oaks.  The following is a short description of the first novel.

After an altercation at school, fifteen-year-old Brian Rees is sent to Shadow Oaks, Indiana, where he discovers a neighborhood so overgrown he can travel around town by tree.  In this village, fires start on their own, not surprising to a local girl who theorizes the residents have secret abilities.  When Brian is accused of being the firebug, he sets out to find the real criminal.  It will take the help of a girl who can summon birds, a grizzled old lady who watches over a ghost, and a friend who may or may not be a werewolf to find the fugitive.

My low-fantasy, young adult novel, The Stranger of Shadow Oaks, is complete at 68,000 words.  Although it can stand on its own, it is the first of a five-part series which should appeal to readers of Christine Lynn Herman’s The Devouring Gray, Madeleine Roux’s Asylum or Michelle Harrison’s 13 Treasures series.
